Nature Reserve "Balata" located about 11 km from the town of Balchik, near the village of Kranevo and situated all along the river Batovska’s flow to Albena resort. "Balata" the northernmost parts of Europe dense forest, where you can meet tree species such as white poplar (Populus alba), field maple (Acer campestre), black alder (Alnus glutinosa) and others. There are more than 260 species of vascular plants and 28 species are protected from those. From grassland species are wild hyacinths (Hyacinthus), Otschibolez (Potentilla fruticosa), marshmallow (Althaea officinalis) and others. Boundaries of the regions covered Balata inhabit 35 species of mammals - insectivores, bats, rodents, carnivores and ungulates. Most common are the hedgehogs, moles, bats, squirrels, rabbits, water rat, nutria, jackal, fox. In the nature reserve 183 species of birds have been found of great interest are the herons, black and white stork, gray crane, Mallard, spotted eagles, woodpeckers, titmice, nightingales, Blackcap.
